The Marsyville Church of the Nazarene will celebrate it’s 50th anniversary of ministry in Union County on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Special music and the dedication of the new Family Life Center will highlight the celebration. Dr.Paul Whiteford has served as Senior Pastor since 1991.
“We want to invite everyone to join us as we celebrate 50 years of ministry in Marysville,” Whiteford said. “Our vision is to be a church where people can believe in Jesus Christ, belong to a loving family, and become stronger in their faith. We’re proud of the high quality of family-oriented ministries for all ages and we’re proud to be a part of the fabric of such a great community.”
The day will kick off with a special celebration service at 10:30a.m. at the church, located at 1126 North Maple Street, a block north of the Union County Fairgrounds. The service will feature music from The McCrary family and a celebration message from Northwest Ohio District Superintendent Geoff Kunselman.
Following the morning service, there will be a carry-in dinner and special ceremony dedicating the newest building addition to the Maple Street campus. The Family Life Center was designed by Meachem & Apel and constructed by Thomas & Marker. Construction was completed in 2010 with the final touches put on the kitchen portion of the facility.
Funded by donations from church members the Marysville Nazarene Family Life Center can seat 600, host athletic events and includes a full service kitchen. The Family Life Center almost doubled the amount of ministry space available to the church and houses youth events, community rallies, wedding receptions, and will once again be a host sight of Upward Basketball this winter in partnership with other churches in the community.
“The Family Life Center wasn’t just built to serve our church members,” Whiteford added. “It’s truly enabled us become a stronger part of the community."
The Marysville Nazarene church began in a home near downtown in 1961. It has steadily grown with the community over the past 50 years. The church offers a broad spectrum of family-based ministries. Along with Whiteford, full-time staff includes children’s pastor Victoria Case, youth ministers Kevin and Chelsie Reed, and senior adult pastor Rich Applegarth.
