The new floor in the Family Life Center looks very sharp!!!

In the next few days, crews will wax it down with a nice shine.

Then, another crew will come in an install basketball hoops from the ceiling.

With regard to the kitchen, the church board has approved work to begin to finish the kitchen in the new addition. The building committee will be working to finalize designs so work can start soon.

Finally! The Floor...

After several months of diligent patience, we're ready to install the new floor to the Family Life Center addition so we can bring the project to completion.

You've read and heard the updates over the past several months regarding the moisture levels in the concrete slab that have been delaying this installation. Now we have the right materials in place to take care of these concerns and we are ready to install the floor.

It is has been a long journey over the past year, but through faith and prayer, we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Already, the Family Life Center addition has been utilized to celebrate several wedding receptions and the Centennial Celebration of the church!!

So what happens next?

Over the next several weeks, crews will be installing the new floor.

After that, basketball goals will be installed.

And following that, work will begin to finish the new kitchen. This final phase will take several more months complete, but in the meantime, the FLC will be open for use.

Again, thanks to all of you who have given many hours and your financial support to the project. Please continue to pray for the ministry of our church as this "construction phase" winds down. Now more than ever, we need the blessing of the Holy Spirit on our church.

September 1 Building Update

A few items to update everyone on the Church Building project:

Thanks to everyone in the congregation and everyone who has supported the project for your patience through the summer months. Things have taken a bit longer than we expected, but that is par for the course on any significant building project. Things are starting to develop that will hopefully bring closure to the construction in the next several weeks.

Parking lot complete!: In August, our designers and construction team were finally able to resolve some soil issues that were preventing completion of the new parking area. With some extra elbow grease and creative engineering from our experts, the new parking lot was capped and finished a few weeks ago, providing nearly 50 new parking spaces.

Flooring Update: If you've been in the Family Life Center recently, you've notice those big green machines and fans. What is that all about? Those big green things are giant, industrial-sized de-humidifiers. They were brought in to draw excess moisture out of the concrete floor. (Yes, even though the concrete is hard, it is still curing...) The moisture level in the concrete has to be brought down to a certain level before the new flooring can be installed. Why? If the moisture level isn't at the right level, the warranty on the flooring will be voided. Hence, the delay. Fortunately, the moisture levels do seem to be coming down, which means that in the next few weeks, the flooring can be installed, completing this phase of the project.

Basketball Goals: At the August Church Board meeting, the board voted to purchase used basketball goals for the new addition. These goals will be installed this fall and will hang from the ceiling.

Again, thanks to everyone for your support of the project and your patience. So many have sacrificed their time and their resources to support this project and so many others have been bathing the project in prayer. Please continue to pray that we can wrap up things in the next month or so...

Entering the Final Stretch

We are entering the final stretch of the construction of the new Family Life Center addition to our church.

As with any project of this size, folks get anxious for things to wrap up so we can crack open the doors and start using our facility. And, as with any project of this size, there are significant final details that need to be tended to carefully to ensure the project is completed to the best of our satisfaction.

Here is a quick update on a few items we are managing:

Flooring installation: The original game plan was to have the flooring in the addition installed by now. So what's the hold up? The concrete is curing a bit more slowly than expected. In order to keep the warranty in tact on the brand new floor, moisture levels in the concrete have to be at just the right level. Too much moisture and it won't install correctly. The building committee has made the safe choice to allow the floor to "dry up" as much as possible before allowing the installation team to do their job. The implication: we may wait until the first week of July to have the floor installed. Even without the floor installed, we'll be able to host the Scott wedding reception and hold VBS activities as scheduled. An unexpected delay, but a prudent decision.

Parking lot pavement: When the first layer of asphalt was being laid down, we were informed the main entrance of the church would be inaccessible for a few weeks. Well now we're working on five weeks, so what is the delay? Once again, there is a moisture issue below the surface we're attempting to address with our contractor, Thomas & Marker, before we lay down the final layer of asphalt and stripe the lot for use. Our goal is to work with the experts to resolve the issue efficiently and appropriately as quickly as we can. We can only ask that you remain patient as we work through this final stage.

Overall, about 95 percent of the project is complete. We are working on final finishes inside the addition and hope to be in a position for final inspections in the next several weeks.

We encourage everyone to take the long-term view on this project. We're all anxious to open the doors and start using the facility, but we also all want the project completed to our satisfaction. It is worth taking the time to make certain we do our best to get everything we can control completed to every one's expectations.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of the building project!!

Hole in the Wall!

Everyone has been asking when the construction crew will be cutting the hole in the sanctuary wall creating access to the new Family Life Center addition.

Well, the answer is: Monday.

Crews cut through the wall Monday and for the next several days (and maybe even next Sunday) we will be worshipping in somewhat of a construction zone.

The good news is that cutting through the wall means the end of the project is near.

Work will continue in earnest this week on bathroom plumbing, electrical finishes and, of course, the new sanctuary entrance.

In just a few short weeks, flooring for the new addition will be installed and inspections will be conducted.

Before you know it, the construction will be complete and we will be able to begin using the new space for ministry!

Video Update: Paving and Interior Update

A new video is available below highlighting the paving of the new parking lot in front of the Family Life Center addition. Approximately 50 new spaces will be made available through this part of the project many of you are supporting through your Journey of Faith committments.

Checks are in the Mail

The checks are in the mail early. That's according to the IRS regarding the economic stimulus package rebate program that will provide cash for many of us.

Everybody seems to want a piece of that money. Many households need the funds to make ends meet and it truly will be a "God-send." Other households may not have as great of a need.

If you are in one of those households that doesn't necessarily need the cash, you may be considering some purchases for stuff you need, like: a computer, a TV, some furniture, a car, remodeling, etc.

If you are so moved by the Spirit, here are a list of things we need to put the finishing touches on the Family Life Center addition, which are not part of the project budget :
  • Basketball goals.
  • Initial sealing and waxing of the new building floor.
  • Finishing the kitchen (cabinets, appliances, sinks, etc.)
  • New church sign for the front of the property.
These are a few of the BIG things we still need resources to complete.

If you are in the fortunate position to have the resources to help, please pray about and strongly consider these items.

You know our church is a good investment....and the donation is tax deductible!

Thanks.

Video Update: Purple walls?

Click on the video icon below and then click the play button for an view of the inside of the new Family Life addition to our church.

Are those purple walls? Actually, yes. They are purple now, but not for long. Drywallers and painters are wrapping up their work over the next few weeks. Electricians and plumbers are also hard at work.

When you drive into the church this week, you'll also note that sidewalks along the front of both the old and new building are being poured. The new parking area in front of the facility has also been graded and is being prepared for final touches.

Take a peek...

Frame Up, Floor Down---Next: Bring on the Bricks

The Family Life Center project is experiencing quite the progress spurt over the past week-and-a-half.

The steel frame is in place. Crews poured the cement floor in just a few short hours. Framing for the walls is almost complete. Installation of the metal roof is moving quickly.

And next week? The masonry crew arrives to begin installation of the brick exterior. As the exterior and roofing are completed, work is also proceeding to begin on the interior infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, drywall and other features.

The Building Committee is meeting bi-weekly with our general contractor, Thomas & Marker, and our architect, Meacham & Apel.

"Our congregation should be very pleased with the progress and quality of work we are receiving for our investment," said Joe Case, building committee member. "We have a great partnership developing that is allows our construction team and our committee to work through challenges, collaborate on cost-effective solutions, and deliver an end product that will allow our ministry to expand."

Crews are working six days a week on various portions of the project.

The Community Takes Note of Our Project

Did you notice the front page of the Marysville Journal-Tribune Wednesday evening?

Yes, that was a picture of work on our building addition featured at the bottom of the page (click on the picture for a closer look).

When folks in the community drive by our church, they are taking note that exciting things are happening with the construction of the Family Life Center. It's an outward sign that our church is growing with the community.

Don't hesitate to use the building project to talk about our church and our ministry with your friends and neighbors. This is a tremendous time of opportunity we don't want to miss!!!

Meanwhile, continue to keep the project in your prayers....

Moving On Up....

Can you say "progress"?

There are a number of visible signs that our building project is moving forward and taking shape.

According to Randy Marker with Thomas & Marker, building permits have been released that are allowing all the progress on the structural steel.

Marker says upcoming progress is expected on placing the floor slab (depending on the weather), and the metal framing of the walls will be taking place within the next few weeks.

Stay tuned for more details....
